Plaisance man doused with acid

A 22-year-old man was being treated at the Georgetown Hospital last night after acid was thrown on him allegedly by a relative.

Peter Stanford of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara was being treated at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) for acid burns on his face and other parts of his body. The youth lived with his aunt and reports are that he attempted to defend the woman after she was reportedly being beaten by a relative. However, the enraged man picked up the acid and tossed it on Stanford.

He managed to get to his mother’s home in Sophia before being taken to the GPH. His condition was listed as serious and last evening a relative said that they want the police to take action.
