NP Electronics short circuits Terror Squad

– Kenneth De Abreu Table Tennis League

It was Day Four of the Kenneth De Abreu Table Tennis League competition and the NP Electronics duo of Michael Vieira and Andre Lopes faced Terror Squad (Samuel Fraser and Elishaba Johnson).

But, instead of being terrorized, Vieira and Lopes short-circuited the pair ending the tie 3-2 with Vieira getting past the highly touted junior national player Fraser in five gripping games.

Johnson might be the reigning 10-years-and-under champion and ranked number ¾ in the Caribbean in that category but he found the wily Lopes too experienced and bowed out making the score 0-2.

As expected Vieira and Lopes took the doubles to strengthen their chances of winning Division C, for intermediate players.

Some 12 matches were contested at the Malteenoes Sports Club as the competition moves closer to its completion. In other results, Nigel’s Supermarket (Joseph Johnson and Christopher Franklin) overpowered Bank of Guyana (Imran Khan and Quincy Jones) 3-1, to win Division `D’ for business entities, corporations and government agencies.

The final standings read: Nigel’s Supermarket (3 wins and 0 losses); NP Electronics (2 wins and 1 loss); Western Union (1 win and 2 defeats) and Bank of Guyana (0 win and 3 defeats).

In the `A’ Division for seniors and advanced players Forehand Connection (Paul Meusa and Nigel Bryan) connected against Spartans  (Joel Alleyne and Hewley Griffith) winning 3-2.

Meusa, after losing to Griffith in the second game 3-2, came back to win the deciding fifth game against Alleyne 3-0, while Bryan won both of his singles games.

In Division B, for advanced players, Un-stoppable (Nigel Bryan and Dwayne Gibson) defeated Outlaws (Adielle Rosheuvel and Samuel Fraser) 3-0 and later Smiley Faces (Natalie Cummings and Remy Taitt) 3-0 moving to the top of the points standings in this division.

In other matches Snipers (Joel Alleyne and Hewley Griffith) whitewashed Lil Champs (Sunil Logan, Elishaba Johnson & Kyle Edghill) 3-0 and Bishop’s High School (Denzel Duff, Jamaal Duff and Chelsea Edghill) defeated Outlaws 3-1

Gaza defeated Dragon Warriors (Kyle Edghill and Alistair Parks) 3-2 and Bank of Guyana (Imran Khan and Quincy Jones) 3-2 while NDA (Denzel Duff and Adielle Rosheuvel) overpowered Bank of Guyana 3-0.

Gaza (4 wins 0 losses) leads from NP Electronics (2 wins 0 losses) with NDR (2 wins and 2 defeats) Terror Squad (1 win and 3 defeats) and Dragon Warriors (no win 2 losses) the other contenders.

In Division E, for semi intermediate players, Turbo TT (Brandon Gomes and Sachin Panday)  won against Eagles (Raymond Seebarran, Gerard Budhan and Shannan Ganga) 3-0 but lost to  Dominators (Chelsea Edghill, Olivia Weeks and Priscilla Greaves) 1-3 . Unbeaten Dominators lead the division with three wins while Turbo TT with three wins and one defeat  are in second position.
