Godfrey Pollydore takes overall lead

Godfrey Pollydore took over the lead position from Geron Williams after the third stage yesterday from Wales to Bushy Park,  Parika in the third annual Tour of Guyana five-stage race.

Robin Persaud, who won the second stage from Rosignol to Carifesta Avenue on Thursday, moves into second position on the overall listing with Williams dropping to third. Currently Pollydore holds a slight lead with a time of 5:03.00 while Persaud and Williams lurk closely with  5:03.02 and 5:03.04 respectively.

Meanwhile, yesterday Junior Niles finished in a time of 57 minutes, seven seconds ahead of Pollydore in 57 minutes, 10 seconds and John Charles crossing the finish line in 57 minutes, 12 seconds.

Marlon Morrison and Horace Burrowes completed the lead bunch with times of 57:14 seconds and 57:15 seconds respectively while Jamaican Marloe Rodman romped home in a close sixth to register 58:34 seconds.

Stage Four of the ‘Ride for Life 3’ road race pedals off today in Essequibo from Supenaam to Charity and then back to Suddie for the finish while the fifth and final stage will take place tomorrow from Kara Kara, Linden to Homestretch Avenue for the finish.
