Stabroek News launched a ‘Special Incentive Scheme for Vendors’ this year in which the sales by newspaper vendors for the period June-November of 2008 were compared to the corresponding period in 2009. The three vendors with the highest increase in sales during the period were awarded cash prizes.
In this photo, Cuffy Square vendor and first prize winner Etheleene Cummings who sold some 45,179 copies of the Stabroek News for the period this year, an increase of 8,557 when compared to last year, accepts her prize of $50,000 from Manager, Circulation Department, Trevoll Pereira. Second place went to Canal Number Two, West Bank Demerara vendor Frank Camacho while Bourda Market vendor Dorothy Morris came in third.
