Avon rep on two-year bond after repaying $60,500

A 45-year-old Avon representative yesterday pleaded not guilty to the charge of fraudulent conversion when it was read to her by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that between November 29 and December 3, 2008 at Georgetown, Bridget Constantine of 116 North Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, being solely entrusted with the sum $60,500 by  Karen Lawrie to purchase Avon beauty products for her, converted the money to her own use.

Constantine repaid Lawrie the $60,500 and upon being repaid, the virtual complainant told the court that she would offer no evidence against the defendant.

Constantine was placed on a bond to keep the peace for two years and was ordered to pay $5,000 cost.
