Prisoner hospitalized after fight

An 18-year-old prisoner, who sustained a minor head injury during a fight with a fellow inmate at the Georgetown Prisons, was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) last evening.

Reuben Singh, hospital sources said, was taken to the medical institution at approximately 6.45pm.
Reports are that Singh was involved in an altercation with a fellow prisoner who allegedly hit him in the head with an unidentified object.
Such incidents have raised questions about how prisoners are able to access objects which can be used to inflict harm to others and themselves.

Efforts made by this newspaper to contact Director of Prisons, Dale Erskine, last evening were unsuccessful.
