Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo ordered a probation report on Gopaul True and remanded him to prison after he admitted the charge of threatening behaviour towards his wife Maurine.
The magistrate remanded him to prison until October 19.
Police Prosecutor Lance Corporal Roberto Figueira said that the taxi driver is a persistent offender who repeatedly assaults his wife.
On October 6 last the defendant returned home from work and after using a series of profane words, armed himself with a cutlass and threatened to kill his wife.
She became afraid and reported the incident to the police.
Meanwhile, the woman asked the court to have her husband removed from the matrimonial home but while her husband agreed to move, the magistrate advised that it be done in the presence of a policeman.
