Police have arrested a car driver after he reportedly fatally struck down a pedestrian at Hope on Sunday evening.
Jack Singh, 57, of Hope Village, East Bank Demerara was pronounced dead on arrival at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
In a statement on Monday police said they are investigating the fatal accident which occurred around 6.45 pm on Sunday.
Investigations, they said, have revealed that the driver of motor car PKK 1632 allegedly swerved from a parked vehicle and “struck down” the pedestrian.
The driver was taken into police custody and is assisting with investigations.
