Man held at Puruni suspected in Leguan shooting

Police on Tuesday arrested a man at Puruni, Bartica, who was found with an unlicensed .32 revolver with two matching rounds and a spent shell. He was later identified as being a suspect in a shooting that occurred in September.

Acting on information received at about 12 pm on Tuesday, ranks arrested a man in the Puruni area, Bartica, the police said in a press release. The man was found in possession of an unlicensed .32 revolver with two matching rounds and a spent shell. Further investigations revealed that the suspect was wanted by the police in relation to a shooting incident on September 13 last year in the same area, during which Tyrell Gordon of Leguan was shot and injured, the police said.

The suspect remains in custody assisting with investigations.
