CANU supervisor in cocaine suitcase probe taken into custody

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit supervisor who was implicated in the passing of a suitcase with 50lbs of cocaine at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri was yesterday taken into custody by the police.

Police also questioned another person who was said to have been implicated in the matter and also an employee of the Roraima Ground Handling service.

The passing of the suitcase earlier this month and its subsequent interception at the John F Kennedy Airport in New York has been a major embarrassment to the government.

Dorothy Sears has since appeared in  a New York court in connection with the cocaine which was stashed in a pink suitcase.
