Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday ordered two men to pay fines of $30,000 each as well as serve three years imprisonment after they admitted having quantities of cocaine in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The men appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court separately charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
David Jones admitted that on February 8 he had 6 grammes of cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking while Mortimer Mc Calman had 2 grammes of cocaine in his possession, also for the purpose of trafficking.
Prosecutor Shellon Daniels stated that in both cases the narcotics were found in their pants pockets.
Jones stated “ah had de cocaine in me back pocket,” while Mc Calman declined to say anything during the court proceedings.
Both men were later escorted out of the court by a policeman.
