The 16-year-old boy who was found with a gun at his East Coast Demerara school earlier this week was yesterday released on station bail.
This newspaper understands that this step was taken based on advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to reports reaching Stabroek News, the weapon which was not loaded was found during school hours when a student went into his bag looking for a pencil.
The teachers were immediately informed and the teen’s shocked mother was later summoned to the school.
