Joven Benn scored a tough five set win over Caribbean U-15 girls champion Victoria Arjoon in the lone Category `B’ match of the Toucan Industries Mashramani Junior Tournament Friday night at the Georgetown Club courts.
Arjoon won the first set 13-11 but Benn rebounded to take the second 11-5.
Arjoon took the third 11-8 but Benn forced a decisive fifth game with an 11-6 win.
In the final game Benn ran out a deserving winner with an 11-4 victory.
In other results; (Category E) Taylor Fernandes beat Matthew Phang 11-7, 11-4, 11-7 while Kevin Rodrigues beat Travis Whitehead 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, and 13-11.
In another Category B encounter, Steven Xavier beat Jonathan Antczak 11-8, 7-11, 11-8, and 12-10.
In Category F, Alexandra Phang won against John Phang 11-2, 11-0 while Mahendra Khusial beat John Phang 11-1-11-3.
In Category C, Akeila Wiltshire beat Kristina Cheeks 11-4, 11-3, 11-2 while Larissa Wiltshire beat Matthew Phang 11-6, 11-2, 11-7 in Category E encounter.
In another Category C match, Lee Fung-a-Fat beat Gabrielle Fraser 11-4, 11-8, 11-2 and Mary Fung-a-Fat beat Jason Van Dyk 11-9, 8-11, 13-11-5 in a Category B encounter.
