Celtics’ Pierce sits out game with injured thumb

BOSTON, (Reuters) – Paul Pierce sat out Boston’s  110-106 victory over the New York Knicks on Tuesday due to an  injured right thumb, the Celtics reported on their website  (www.nba.com/celtics/).

Pierce originally hurt the thumb against the Los Angeles  Lakers and has struggled with his shooting since.

He leads the team with 17.9 points per game and is listed  as day-to-day.
