Miller replaces Bernard in Jamaica’s squad

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Young batsman Horace Miller was drafted Tuesday into Jamaica’s squad for their must-win match against Trinidad and Tobago in the final round of the WICB Regional first-class championship this weekend.

Miller travelled yesterday to Grenada for the four-day fixture as a replacement for the steady all-rounder David Bernard, who has been called up for West Indies duties this weekend against touring Zimbabwe.

Second-placed Jamaica, with 48 points, are nine points adrift of tournament leaders Barbados entering the seventh and last round.

The Barbadians completed their schedule with a 10-wicket whipping of Jamaica on Sunday in Trinidad to surge to 57 points.

Only an outright win over T&T — for maximum 12 points — can take reigning champions Jamaica past Barbados for the title.

JAMAICA SQUAD – Tamar Lambert (captain), Donovan Pagon, Brenton Parchment, John Ross Campbell, Danza Hyatt, Carlton Baugh Jr, Nkrumah Bonner, Andrew Richardson, Odean Brown, Horace Miller, Andre Russell and Bevon Brown, Jason Dawes.
