PHILADELPHIA, (Reuters) – All-Star guard Allen Iverson will miss the remainder of the season for personal reasons, the Philadelphia 76ers said yesterday.
He has missed two stretches of games to be with his ill four-year-old daughter, the latest for four games.
“He no longer wishes to be a distraction to the organization and team mates,” 76ers general manager Ed Stefanski said in a statement after talking with Iverson.
“It has been very difficult for Allen and the team to maintain any consistency as he tries to balance his career with his personal life,” Stefanski added.
Iverson ended a short retirement to rejoin the 76ers in December and has averaged 13.9 points and 4.1 assists in 25 games, 24 of them starts.
