Two men who reportedly committed an armed robbery on a business place at Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice last Thursday were arrested with an unlicensed weapon and the stolen booty following a police chase. Charges are to be laid against them shortly. A police press release yesterday stated that around 16:20 hours last Thursday, Yokoliza Seenarine, 29 was in her business place when two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm entered and held her at gunpoint. Her husband, Krishna Sewlall entered shortly after and he too was held up.

According to the release, the bandits then took away $19, 233 along with personal documents belonging to Seenarine and escaped after securing the couple with pieces of cloth. The couple managed to free themselves and reported the matter to the police who subsequently saw two suspicious men running across an open field in the vicinity of a roadblock that had been set up at the Fort Wellington Public Road, WCB.

Police ranks gave chase and apprehended the two men who were found with an unlicensed .38 Taurus revolver along with four matching rounds and a haversack containing the money and documents stolen during the robbery.
