A number of open heart surgeries will be conducted on children starting today and the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) has issued an urgent call to the public to donate blood.
surgeries, the NBTS said in a press release yesterday, will need a large quantity of blood and currently the supply is short. All blood donors are being called forward urgently to aid in this cause, the release said.
Donors can visit NBTS at Lamaha Street between 8am and 4pm to make donations.
