The winners of the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Stag League First Division tournament were presented with their respective prizes yesterday in the boardroom of Ansa McAl.
Timehri Panthers, for the second consecutive year, are the League Champions and they carted off with the top prize of $150,000, ahead of Grove Hi-Tec who grabbed the runner-up prize of $75,000.
Kuru Kuru Warriors copped the third place spot and earned $50,000 while Yarrowkabra Football Club, who finished fourth, received $25,000.
John Matthews scored nine goals overall to gain the Highest Goal Scorer award, Esmond Sam was named the Best Goal Keeper and Ryan Scott was the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Meanwhile, Stag Beer Brand Manager, John Maikoo, said that Stag is always willing to work along with the EBFA and he promised that next year the tournament is going to be better. “We thought it was a great opportunity to help East Bank Football grow when we were approached and I thought it was a well run tournament and the turnout was good,” Maikoo said.
“This tournament goes a long way and it was good to see players coming out and performing to their full potential and once it’s a way to develop the players, we are going to back them,” he added.
