A boost

A boost: Yesterday Japarts handed over $580,000 worth of high-beam spot lamps and luminous vests along with a $100,000 cheque to the Guyana Police Force to assist ranks in the execution of their duties. CEO of Japarts Terry Singh told the media at a handing over ceremony that this initiative was sparked after he read a newspaper article about a traffic rank being struck down by an errant driver behind the Botanical Gardens. Singh said his company which has a large-scale mining operation in the interior had a large quantity of luminous vests on hand. One hundred and thirty at $4,000 each and ten spot lamps were handed over to Commissioner of Police Henry Greene during the simple ceremony. The businessman also applauded the force for their prompt response to reports at the Japarts’ mining operation. Meanwhile Greene, in expressing appreciation for the donation urged other reputable companies to come forward and do same. Stabroek News yesterday learnt that the injured rank was in a coma following the incident is still a patient of the Georgetown Hospital.
