Mayor and City Council workers demolishing

Mayor and City Council workers demolishing the last remaining stalls at Meadow Bank yesterday in order to clear the canal so as to reduce the flooding which has affected residents since last week. After residents complained about the flooding in the area which posed a health hazard, Minister of Local Government Kellawan Lall had ordered on Tuesday last that all fishing boats in the area be removed so that drainage works could have been carried out. On Wednesday last, officers from the City Constabulary had broken down several stalls which were located on the dam of the canal. The remaining structures were taken down yesterday.
