Kishore adds Safeway trophy to collection

Teenage golfer Avinda Kishore added another trophy to his collection when he won the Safeway Security sponsored Medal play  Golf tournament last Saturday at the Lusignan Club.

The diminutive golfer who placed third in a recent tournament had an outstanding day on the course finishing with a net 69 from a gross 81 playing off a 12 handicap.

Mike Mangal had double reason to celebrate in finishing second and copping the Nearest to the Pin Prize.

He recorded a net score of 70 from a gross 78 playing off an eight handicap.
Bolaram Deo edged out Mohanlall Dinanauth for third place after both players finished on net scores of 72.

However, Deo (15 handicap gross 87 net 72) won on a countback from Dinanauth (3-78-72).

Eon Caesar, Chief Executive Officer of Safeway Security Company was on hand to present the prizes to the outstanding players.

He said that he was pleased to be collaborating with the Lusignan Golf Club to stage the tournament.

“I want to thank you for having Safeway, I hope this is not a one off sponsorship but once the company remains on a sound footing, I will continue to sponsor tournament,” Caesar said.

Caesar, an ardent golf fan is also planning to become a member of Lusignan Golf Club.

LGC President Lester Alvis expressed gratitude to the sponsor and encouraged him to play golf.

Caesar presented the sponsorship cheque in addition to the trophies for the top two players.

The tournament attracted 30 players as the players prepare for a busy two months with several major tournaments lined up including the Suriname Open in the neighboring Republic.

Alvis announced Sanjay’s Jewellery as the sponsor for next weekend tournament.
