Shoppers at the Rosignol market benefited from information about their rights at workplaces when the Ministry of Labour took its booth there for a labour fair yesterday.
Persons were also enlightened about other services offered by the ministry and were told that they could visit the offices in Georgetown, Berbice or Essequibo with complaints.
Among the other items displayed at the booth were brochures on the National HIV/AIDS Policy, the minimum wage orders (revised) and Occupational Safety and Health as well as safety gear.
Concerned folks who flocked the booth were also informed about industrial relations issues which deal with termination of services.
Applications for early school-leavers were also handed out to persons desirous of becoming empowered by the ministry through the National Training Project for Youth Empowerment/Board of Industrial Training. According to staff who said the fair has also been held in Regions Eight, Nine, Two, Seven and Six, they said they decided to set up shop at the market because it was a “central location.” Persons at the booth yesterday.
