Commonwealth Games TT trials on today

The new selection panel of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has called up 16 male and eight female players to participate in trial matches for possible selection on the Guyana team to the Commonwealth Games in India in October.

The trial matches will take place this evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Missing from the players selected are five players who represented Guyana at the recent Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

Idi Lewis, Paul David, Michelle John and Trenace Lowe are all in the United States of America while Christopher Franklyn is nursing a slight injury.

Caribbean Under-13 gold and silver medalists Chelsea Edghill and Jamaal Duff are the youngest competitors in the squads.

The male players selected in their respective groups are: Group One:- Paul Meusa, Jonathan Sankar, Dwayne Gibson and Warren Hackshaw.

Group Two: – Joel Alleyne, Hewley Griffith, Denzel Hopkinson and Jamaal Duff.

Group Three: – Nigel Bryan, Orin Hickerson, Sachin Panday and Zane Humphrey.

Group Four:- Edinho Lewis, Andrew Daly, Denzel Duff and Samuel Fraser.

The female players are: – Natalie Cummings, Vida Moore, Chelsea Edghill, Akecia Nedd and Ambrose Thomas.

The women will be involved in a round robin affair while the four male group winners will advance to a final four round robin showdown.

The winners of the respective categories will receive a cash award.
