Headquarters win GPF 10km mixed relay race

Headquarters athletics team in a time of 35 minutes 42.33 seconds emerged winners of the Guyana Police Force’s 10 kilometre mixed relay race held yesterday.

The relay, the first activity of the Guyana Police Force’s Annual Athletics Champion-ships, commenced outside the Police Officer’s Mess, Eve Leary.  Other teams that participated in the relay race were ‘A’ Division, ‘Country Division’(which comprises C, D, E&F, and G Divisions), and ‘B’ Division who finished the race in that order.

Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene, who started the race, congratulated the members of the teams on their performance and urged that they remain focused on their training, so that there can be healthy competition during the championships which will see police athletes from Trinidad and Barbados participating.

The GPF’s annual track and field championships will be held in earnest on August 24, 25 and 27, at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary.

The Commissioner also awarded monetary incentives to the winners and the second and third place teams.
