Neal and Massy group donates to 12 charities

Twelve organisations on Monday were the recipients of monetary donations from the Neal and Massy Guyana Group of Companies as part of the company’s 42nd Anniversary celebrations.

At the presentation which took place at its staff facility, Chief Executive Officer Deo Persaud noted the past support by the group for campaigns done by various ministries. However, he indicated that this year the focus had shifted to support organisations that assist the less fortunate in communities across the country.

According to a press release from the group, Persaud said, “One of our mottos is giving back to the communities in which we operate and we decided to support organisations that are making meaningful contributions to our communities.” Funding for the exercise was provided by all branches of the group.

The beneficiaries of the donation were Dharm Shala, New Amsterdam Special Needs School, Cheshire Home, Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (for Pakistan Flood Relief Fund), Guyana Relief Council, The Guyana Community Based Rehabilitation Programme (Support for Deaf Awareness), Lifeline Counselling Services, Help and Shelter, Radio’s Needy Children’s Fund, Essequibo Islands Secondary School and the New Opportunity Corps in Essequibo.

Persaud highlighted the high incidence of domestic violence locally thus their donation to help and Shelter. The group also held a 10km road race and 5km fitness run as part of the other activities to mark their company’s milestone.
