Help for the elderly: Police in `D’ Division, West Demerara/East Bank Essequibo recently presented an elderly businesswoman and farmer with a new bicycle. Elaine Jones, 75, has been riding from her Lot 23 Inner Bagotsville home to Regent and Alexander streets where she has a small business, for over 20 years. According to a police press release, the woman leaves home between 11:00 hrs and 12:00 hrs, purchases 100 pounds of ice at Ruimveldt and tends to her business before returning home between 21:00 hrs and 22:00 hrs. She is also a farmer, the release said, adding that Jones in receiving the bicycle expressed thanks to the ranks in the division for their kind gesture. She went on to say that the bicycle will greatly assist her.
