CIOG: We as Muslims and society as a whole failed Neesa

CIOG President Fazeel M. Ferouz in strongly and equivocally condemning the brutal murder of teenager Neesa Lalita Gopaul declared that “we as Muslims and the society as a whole failed this child in her plea for help, protection and counselling.”

Ferouz, in a press statement, noted that the murder was “a cowardly and dastardly act committed, from all reports, for sheer greed on a young aspiring teenager whose short life was subjected to the most atrocious form of abuse.”

And hope was expressed that the authorities will ensure that justice is done for the teenager and all efforts will be made to ensure that no other child is ever subjected to such a fate.

“We exhort all our brothers and sisters at every level to pay attention to the young members of our community and to those in need of our help.

Let us not forget and always remember the old African saying, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’,” the release concluded.
