Chairman of the Parliamentary Social Services Committee Indra Chandarpal says the country has a paucity of science and technology graduates to aid in development, and she questioned what the education sector is doing to change this.
Chandarpal said there is evidence of fewer people going into those fields at the university level; fields which she identified as “needed for national development”. She raised the issue as a concern on Friday last when education officials appeared before the committee,
