PNCR Chairman Cammie Ramsaroop had been identified as the party’s representative to deliver a tribute at Tuesday’s interment ceremony for former chairman Winston Murray after a request was made, the committee that arranged the funeral said.
The Protocol Committee, in a press release sent yesterday, rejected a statement issued by the party on Friday which said that neither Ramsaroop nor any party officer had been asked to deliver a tribute at the Leguan interment ceremony. The committee said it “regrets that certain members of the PNCR saw it fit to issue such a statement so soon after the recent interment of our beloved, respected and trusted colleague: it is regretted because it is both inaccurate and misleading.”
According to the committee, its Chairperson Russell Lancaster was informed by the Leader of the PNCR Robert Corbin that he should liaise with General Secretary Oscar Clarke and Volda Lawrence “on any and all arrangements relating to the funeral…”. The committee said Lawrence
