Man gets 18 months for simple larceny

A man was handed an 18-month prison sentence yesterday by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry after he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on a simple larceny charge.

The charge against Asif Mohamed is that on March 2 in Georgetown he stole one electrical saw and a drill valued at $70,000, property of Michelle Dutchin. The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
