Windies A clinch ‘ODI’ series 2-0 after rain ruins third match

KINGSTOWN, St Vincent, CMC – West Indies ‘A’ were confirmed as 2-0 winners of the three-match ‘One-Day International” series against Bangladesh A yesterday after the final match was abandoned without a ball bowled because of torrential rain.

The field at international venue, Arnos Vale Stadium, was so wet from heavy rain on Saturday and early yesterday that the umpires abandoned play as early as 9.30 a.m.

West Indies A won the first match by four wickets last Wednesday and the second by 33 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method on Friday – both also at Arnos Vale.

The success for the regional side followed a fighting 1-0 triumph in the two-match ‘Test’ series, which was played in Antigua and St. Lucia after which the teams drew the two Twenty20 ‘Internationals’ 1-1 in St. Lucia.
