Robbery suspect remanded

A man was yesterday remanded to prison for allegedly robbing a woman of a gold chain and cash, while an arrest warrant was issued for his alleged accomplice.

Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine Beharry remanded Desmond McPherson to prison and issued an arrest warrant for the absent Peter Mackenzie, after reading a joint charge against the two men at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It was alleged that on September 8, at Georgetown, they robbed Roulda Nedlette of a gold chain, valued $35,000, and $6,000 local currency. McPherson pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him.

The matter will be called again on Monday.
