Gaddafi was entitled to be treated justly

Dear Editor,

Thursday morning as I tuned into C.N.N, I was greeted with “Breaking News” which caption always has something worthy of communication but never thought that it would be the announcement of the capture of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and suspected death which was to be confirmed.

But it was more the celebratory noise (gunfire) and open jubilation of the people as if their redemption had come which I observed with rapt attention.

Though his death later confirmed was not unexpected  the reported manner of it in a subsequent newscast is disturbing. If proven to be true Gaddafi was  entitled to be treated justly as a prisoner of war according to the Geneva Convention.

There should in my humble opinion be cautious optimism as the task ahead for such a fractious country to be able to work with each other despite differences  is enormous.

Yours faithfully,
