Bolt set for Stockholm return

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, CMC – Sprint superstar Usain Bolt has confirmed his presence for the DN Galan Diamond League later this month, in a return to the city where he suffered his last defeat.
The Olympic and World champion will run at the July 29 showpiece and will contest the 200 metres at Stockholm’s 1912 Olympic Stadium.

Last August, Bolt was beaten by American Tyson Gay in the 100 metres, then his first defeat in two years.
“It is a great pleasure to confirm Usain Bolt’s return to DN Galan,” said meet director Rajne Söderberg.

“The US sports channel Universal Sports voted last year’s 100 metres race at the DN Galan between Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay as the top performance of the year in 2010. It will be interesting to see Bolt run the 200 metres.”

Bolt is unbeaten this season, with his latest victory coming at the Areva meet in France last week when he clocked 20.03 seconds to beat European champion Christophe Lemaitre of France.

However, he will have to turn in a bigger performance if he is to threaten the DN Galan meet record of 19.77, set by former World record holder Michael Johnson 15 years ago.
The meet is the eleventh of the 2011 Samsung Diamond League.
