Police said that for the year of 2011 there was a 5% increase in fatal accidents, but the number of deaths was the same, while there was also a 57% increase in the number of children who lost their lives on the roadways.
In 2010, there were 115 deaths on the roadways and the same number for last year. Meanwhile there were 101 accidents in 2010 and this increased to 106 in 2011, marking a 5% increase.
