GWI says addressing water quality problems at Ituni

The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) says it has started a project in Ituni, Region Ten to correct the “water quality challenges” and it expects the situation to be rectified by mid-year.

According to GWI Hinterland Manager Akram Hussein, the company drilled a well in Ituni last year as part of the first phase of rectifying all the issues experienced with sourcing water from a creek within the community. “Arrangements are in place to interconnect the well with the network by the middle of 2012,” he said in a statement released by GWI.
