Relatives appeal for justice in rape of Tuschen girl

Relatives of the underage girl, who was allegedly raped by a 62-year-old shopkeeper in Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, want police to speedily bring the man to justice so as to avoid the risk of a recurrence.

It has been alleged that on April 15, the man was seen from some distance by neighbours committing a sexual act with the child, then 13, in the backyard of his home. The matter was immediately reported to the Tuschen Policing Group, which promptly acted and arrested the individual, before handing him over to the Leonora Police Station. He has since been released on $20,000 station bail.
