Acting T&T CJ critically injured, 4 die in crash

(Trinidad Express) Acting Chief Justice and Appeal Court Judge Wendell  Kangaloo has been warded in a critical condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope.

Kangaloo was one of several persons injured in a head-on crash on the  Churchill Roosevelt Highway in the vicinity of Trincity early yesterday morning.

Reports indicate that Kangaloo and accompanied by two members of his security detail were heading east along the highway in a Toyota Prado when a motor vehicle, travelling in the opposite direction, crossed the median and slammed head on into Kangaloo’s vehicle.

The acting Chief Justice and two police officers in the Prado were taken to the Arima District Hospital. He was subsequently transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Medical Complex where he underwent emergency surgery.

He is unconscious and his condition is listed as critical.

Four occupants of the motor vehicle that crossed the median died at the scene of the accident.
