Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shamdeo Persaud, has warned against the excessive use of certain prescription medications, particularly the drug, Cytotec, and has stressed that it must be prescribed by a registered medical practitioner.
He added that Medexes work under the Medex Law and Medex Act of Guyana and registered Medexes “are only registered to work in the public sector”. He was speaking at the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Board meeting in Region 5 recently.
