The Ministry of Culture says six sub-committees have been set up to manage Guyana’s contributions and to co-ordinate activities for the different disciplines expected to be showcased at the second Inter-Guiana Cultural Festival set for August 23.
Preparations are also moving apace for a gala welcome celebration at the National Cultural Centre on Thursday August 23 at the three-day extravaganza that will showcase the best cultural traditions and contemporary artistic offerings from French Guiana, Suriname and Guyana.
The sub-committees will manage the programme for exhibitions, performances, workshops, lectures and master classes in the performing arts, literary, culinary, fashion and visual arts, the ministry said in a press release. The teams are being led by Assistant Director of Culture Colonel (rtd) Lindon Ross, Desiree Wyles-Ogle, Lennox Canterbury, Lorraine Barker-King (international co-ordinator, performing arts), Linda Griffith (dance), Alim Hosein (literary arts), Penelope Harris (culinary arts) Carol Fraser (fashion), Enrico Woolford (film) and Denzil Hollingsworth (craft). This year is the first time that the film category will be
