Residents of Versailles on the West Coast Demerara were plunged into darkness after a vehicle crashed into this utility pole on the Public Road around 3 am on Sunday. What angered many was that more than 12 hours later at 5 pm, cables were still lying on the roadway although the Guyana Power and Light company has a station in the same village. In photo is the broken utility pole and wires strewn on the road and on the roof and fence of a villager’s home.
