Delegates of Miss African queen pageant honoured

Delegates in the Miss Guyana African Queen pageant were last weekend honoured along with sponsors and supporters for their contribution in the 2012 production of the inaugural showcase at the African Heritage Museum.

The trophies given to the delegates were handcrafted in Kenya, they are called ‘thinking statues.’ The wooden sculptures symbolize growing and moving forward in life to reach success.The trophies given to the sponsors are called ‘support statues’ and they symbolize the support of the elders or whoever is in a position to do so to the child/youth, person or entity.
