Reopening delayed for some public schools

St Joseph’s High School is among the schools for which reopening has been delayed by the Education Ministry. Stabroek News was told that asbestos was removed from the school building, which is still being cleaned. Some parents are worried about the health risks the removal of the asbestos may pose to their children and the staff of the school.

The Ministry of Education said yesterday that the reopening of some schools across Guyana will be delayed but teachers of the affected schools are required to report for duty on Monday to the Department of Education in their respective areas.
