The Demerara Mutual Insurance Company has presented ten bursary awards to policyholders’ children who were successful at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment Exams at its 15th annual bursary award function. The ten students received bursaries of $11,000 each from Chairman of the Board of Directors, Richard Fields, the company said in a press release. The awardees will also receive $ 11,000 per year for the next five years until they have completed their secondary education. The most outstanding student the release said was, Jelena Arjune, while the second best student was Mario George. Both students were awarded places at Queens College. Other bursary recipients were Hemanta Doodnauth, D’ Andre Kirton, Nathan Archibald, Sarah Grannum, Faith Browne, Garfield Benjamin, Kualon Mentore and Devon Arthur.
