Hampers for seniors: In honour of the month of the elderly, the Union/Naarstigheid Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) on Friday distributed 25 hampers to senior citizens.
The hampers which included food items, detergents and toiletries have been distributed to persons from within the NDC for the past 15 years. This is the first year they have decided to highlight it though, according to the acting overseer, Renai Mc Almont.
In photo, Mc Almont (right) presents a hamper to 78-year-old Beatrice Rachpaul, known of ‘Aunty Bee’ of Bush Lot. The woman said she felt special that the NDC identified her for a hamper and she expressed gratitude to them.
Mc Almont said it was a pleasure distributing the hampers to the elderly whose ages range from 75 to 96.
