Bravo half century revives Windies against HPC

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC-Darren Bravo smashed a half century to lift West Indies out of trouble against the High Performance Centre 2 on the first day of their three day practice match at the three W’s Oval yesterday.

Bravo stroked a top score of 57 to revive the Windies who had slumped to 34 for the loss of three wickets but eventually declared at 220 for 9.

He cracked seven fours and occupied the crease for more than two hours repairing the earlier damage.
Bravo shared a crucial fourth wicket partnership of 66 with Narsingh Deonarine who contributed 37.

The stylish Bravo also put together 40 runs for the fifth wicket with Denesh Ramdin before he was caught.
Ramdeen was forced to retire on 15.

Skipper Darren Sammy took over Bravo’s role of restoring the innings and shared in a couple late partnerships.
Sammy, who hit three fours in scoring 36, put on 24 with Ramdin  and 26 with Verasammy Permaul.

Miguel Cummins three for 21 and Jason Dawes two for 30 were the leading wicket takers for HPC 2.
At stumps, HPC 2 were 20 for the loss of one wicket after 30 minutes batting.
