Ministry closer to regularising Prosperity/Barnwell North lots

The Ministry of Housing and Water has moved one step closer to regularising 86 lots in Plantation Prosperity/ Barnwell North, EBD at an initial cost of $90M.

In his speech at a meeting with residents on Monday, at the Mocha Primary School, Minister Irfaan Ali said that regularising the area will allow residents to benefit from all the services the process brings, a release from the Ministry of Housing said.

Ali also said the preliminary costs of basic infrastructural works in the area is estimated at $90M and that the ministry is awaiting funds from the 2013 budgetary allocations to proceed with these works. According to a press release, beneficiaries will be able to pay a subsidised cost of $72,000 for lots in that area.

“The cost of regularization is expensive but we have [assessed] the situation and now you are paying one of the lowest fees as we try to bridge the gap,” Ali told the meeting.
