Recruitment at Bai Shan Lin exceeds target, chairman says

China Forest Industry Group Company, the owners of Bai Shan Lin Forest Development Inc says Guyanese have responded overwhelmingly to job vacancies it posted, with applications exceeding expectations by more than 100 responses.

According to Whenze Chu, Chairman of the parent company, over 800 persons have been employed by the Chinese wood processing and export company after it published an advertisement seeking 700 employees.

One hundred persons have already been assigned to their work posts, he said, according to a Govern-  ment Information Agency (GINA) press release.

The recruitment drive comes in the light of the company’s plans for large scale industries among which is a wood economic and trade park that will promote production of various kinds of wood products and brands that will boost the development of the local economy, GINA said.

The proposed park will include industries for ship building, woodworking, machinery, processing and manufacturing, food and aquatic processing, mining and a school and hospital.

Plans are also in train to build an international mall and an exhibition
