Gang culture evident among significant number of students

There are signs of youth gang culture among a “small but significant” number of students in Guyana’s schools, Chief Education Officer Olato Sam said yesterday.

Addressing a small gathering of teachers, social workers and faith and community-based leaders at a workshop on the implementation of prevention strategies and actions to address youth gang and violence, Sam said that the Education Ministry has also noted the increase in gang-related incidents in schools.
